IfG as employer

IfG currently employs 36 people at its Leipzig location. The structure of our engineering office, which consists of three closely interlinked structural areas, can certainly be described as unique.

With our field measurement department, we work directly on site with the mine operators to aquire in-situ data on the real rock mass behavior underground and to obtain rock samples for further investigation in our rock mechanics laboratory. In our high-performance rock mechanics laboratory, these samples are then systematically examined with regard to rock strength and deformation behavior as well as their hydraulic properties.

Together with the measured in-situ behavior, the laboratory results are an essential basis for carrying out numerical calculations with which the rock mass behavior can be modeled and predicted. Finally, all test results are combined to form a uniform rock mechanics analysis as part of an expert assessment.

This provides clients and authorities with an important decision-making basis for planning and approval.
